A man was taken to Harborview this morning with serious bite wounds apparently sustained during a gruesome assault and robbery in the “Jungle,” the wooded area along the west side of Beacon Hill.
Just before 1:30 am this morning, two men walked to the Metro Transit base at Airport Way S. and S. Atlantic Street, and said they’d been attacked in the woods nearby.
The victim and his friend told police that two suspects, both Hispanic men, had approached them under I-5, and hit the victim in the head with a rock.
During the attack, one of the suspects bit off part of the victim’s lower lip, and also bit the victim on his neck.
The suspects then took the victim’s wallet and watch and rode away on a bicycle.
The victim was taken to Harborview for treatment. His friend, who wasn’t injured in the incident, told officers he had seen the suspects in the Jungle several weeks earlier, but didn’t know the men.
