Collision at Denny Way and Eastlake Avenue East investigated

Detectives from the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad (TCIS) are investigating a two car collision that occured yesterday just after 3:00 pm at Denny and Eastlake Ave. East.  At that time, a 2001 Volkswagen GTI was travelling eastbound on Denny Wy after stopping at a stop sign at Eastlake.  At the same time, a 2002 Subaru Impreza was travelling northbound on Eastlake. The two vehicles collided in the intersection, causing the Subaru to glance off the Volkswagen and strike a large tree.

The 37-year-old male driver of the Subaru had significant injuries as a result and was treated at the scene by Seattle Fire Department Medics and transported to Harborview Medical Center.  The adult male driver of the VW and his adult male passenger were not injured in the collision.

A Drug Recognition Expert officer evaluated both drivers for any sign of impairment, but no impairment was detected on either driver.  TCIS detectives responded to the scene and began their investigation, and they will have responsiblity for the on going investigation.
