A man was stabbed in the chest early this morning and has since died from his injuries. Detectives from the Homicide and Assault Unit are on scene and have begun their investigation.
At approximately 1:45 am, the victim, a man in his early twenties, was walking with his girlfriend in the 2200 Block of 1st Avenue when they got into an argument with a group of at least four Hispanic males. The victim attempted to walk away from the suspects toward his car in the 2300 Block of 1st Avenue. Sometime during that confrontation one of the suspects stabbed the victim in the chest. The victim collapsed to the ground and 911 was called. Seattle Fire Medics responded and despite their efforts, the victim died at the hospital.
The suspects are described as Hispanic males, and it is believed that they all got into a gray truck or SUV following the stabbing and fled the area northbound on 1st Avenue. Officers conducted an area search but at this point have not located the suspect vehicle. This information is preliminary and will be updated later as more information comes in. At this point, this is an active homicide investigation. Anyone with information on this crime is asked to contact Seattle Police.
