A man in his 20’s was seriously wounded in a shooting in South Seattle Friday afternoon.
Around 12:20 pm, several people called 911 and reported hearing at least a half-dozen gunshots near McClintock Avenue S. and S. Byron Street. Witnesses also told police they saw a man lying on the ground.
Officers arrived and found a man with a gunshot wound to the chest. His injuries appear to be life-threatening.
Staff at Franklin High School, which is near the scene of the shooting, were notified of the incident.
UPDATE: Detectives are still interviewing witnesses and trying to piece together details of the shooting, but believe the suspect or suspects jumped into a car and fled the scene following the shooting.
Police are still working to identify the victim and have not determined his exact age, but now believe he is in his late teens to mid 20s.
