Car/pedestrian collision investigation in North Seattle

An 85-year-old  woman was crossing 3rd Avenue NW at NW 132nd Street last night at about 5:30 pm when she was struck by a Saab station wagon travelling northbound on 3rd Avenue NW.

Police and Seattle Fire Department Medics responded.  The victim was treated at the scene and then transported to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

The 57-year-old male driver of the Saab was evaluated by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) officer for any signs of impairment.  This is standard in collision investigations.  No impairment was detected.  Detectives from the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad (TCIS) responded and began their investigation.  TCIS will handle the on-going investigation.
