A suspected DUI driver struck another motorist head-on this morning, sending both drivers to the hospital with injuries.
Preliminary investigation indicates that on November 25th at approximately 2:22 a.m. a male driver (the suspect) was traveling westbound on North Northgate Way approaching Corliss Avenue North in his Mercedes SUV. As he crossed Corliss Avenue North he drove across the centerline into the oncoming lanes of travel and struck a Chevrolet sedan head-on. Both involved vehicles were impounded and taken to the evidence garage for further examination.
SFD medics were called to the scene and transported both drivers to Harborview Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
At the hospital officers evaluated the suspect for signs of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs (DUI). The suspect displayed signs of impairment and was subsequently processed for suspicion of DUI.
Upon release from the hospital the suspect faces potential charges of Felony Vehicular Assault and DUI.
Traffic Collision Investigation Squad detectives responded to the scene and continue to actively investigate.
