Train/Pedestrian Fatality Collision near King Street Station

A man was struck by a train in the tunnel north of King Street Station early this morning.  At approximately 4:29 a.m. officers responded to a report of a train/pedestrian collision in the tunnel north of the 300 block of South Jackson Street.  Preliminary investigation indicates that an adult male pedestrian was walking in a prohibited area when he was struck by a northbound BNSF freight train approximately mid-way in the tunnel north of King Street Station.

Fire department medics responded to the scene and transported the 33-year-old male pedestrian to Harborview Medical Center (HMC) with life-threatening injuries.  The man died after his arrival at HMC from injuries sustained in the collision.

Seattle Police Traffic Collision Investigation Squad detectives responded to the scene and will be handling the active and on-going investigation.
