A 40-year-old man was rushed to the hospital after being shot several times in the Rainier Valley this evening. At approximately 5:52 p.m. officers responded to 911 reports of shots fired in the area of Rainier Avenue South and South Othello Street.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the adult male victim was in his car when he was struck by several gunshots from unknown suspect(s). The victim drove himself from the scene of the shooting to Rainier Avenue South and South Henderson Street where he flagged down an officer. Officers called fire department medics to the scene, who subsequently transported the victim to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
Officers continue to investigate the circumstances that led up to the shooting, which remain unknown at this time. Officers inspecting the damage to the victim’s car could see a gun lying on the front floor of the vehicle. The victim’s car was impounded and taken to the evidence garage for further forensic analysis and evidence collection.
