A man was sent to the hospital last night with life-threatening injuries after he was struck by a car as he was attempting to cross South Dearborn Street in the International District.
At 9:10 pm, officers responded to a report of a pedestrian/vehicle collision in the 900 Block of South Dearborn Street. The male pedestrian was crossing the street when a Hyundai Sonata travelling eastbound on South Dearborn struck him.
Seattle Fire Department Medics transported the man to Harborview Medical Center. The driver of the Hyundai was evaluated at the scene by a Drug Recognition Expert officer, who did not detect any signs of alcohol and/or drugs. The driver was identified and released from the scene pending further investigation. The Hyundai was impounded as evidence.
Detectives from the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad (TCIS) responded and processed the scene. This remains an active and on-going TCIS investigation.
