A man is in the hospital in stable condition following an early morning shooting. At approximately 4:39 a.m., dispatch started receiving 911 calls regarding a shooting in the area of 3 Ave and James St.
An officer located the victim at 1st and Yesler St. The victim stated he had been shot, that he didn’t know the person who shot him, and that he didn’t know why he was shot.
Medic One responded and transported the victim to HMC. Once at hospital, the victim’s family caused a large disturbance, requiring a fast back-up and officers to keep the peace. The victim sustained a gunshot wound to the chest area and was reported as stable, but in surgery.
Based on information gathered from witnesses, the shooting may have happened in the 500 block of 3rd Ave. The suspect is unknown and still outstanding.
The incident was screened with homicide and the two scenes were secured and processed by patrol officers. This incident does not appear to be a random act.
