Four men involved in a Shoreline bank robbery this afternoon were apprehended a short time later next to Seattle Police Headquarters. On January 8th at approximately 3:36 p.m. Shoreline Police responded to a report of a bank robbery that had just occurred at the Chase Bank located in the 18200 block of Midvale Avenue North. Preliminary investigation indicates that the primary suspect entered the bank, presented a note and implied a weapon. The suspects fled the bank with an undetermined amount of cash and eventually got into a white 2001 Ford Crown Victoria with two additional male suspects. Nobody was injured during the robbery. The suspects fled southbound on I-5.
King County Sheriff’s Office broadcast the information to neighboring agencies. Seattle Police patrol officers as well as Robbery and Gang detectives responded to the area.
A Seattle Police officer spotted the suspect vehicle on southbound I-5 near the James Street exit. Seattle Police officers and detectives converged on the suspects and effected a traffic stop at 6th Avenue and James Street. All four adult male suspects were taken into custody without further incident.
The suspects are currently being interviewed by the Seattle Police-FBI Safe Streets Task Force and Seattle Police Robbery detectives.
Upon completion of the interviews, the primary suspect will be booked into the King County Jail for Investigation of Robbery. A second suspect will be booked into the King County Jail for an active Department of Corrections felony warrant.
The dispositions of the two remaining suspects is pending further investigation.
