Officers responded to reports of a fight between two males at 2nd and Blanchard today around 5:00 pm. As officers were enroute, the call was updated to indicate one of the males was armed with a knife. When officers arrived, they located one male in the alleyway in the 100 Block of Blanchard Street, with a stab wound to his abdomen. Seattle Fire was called to treat the injury. Officers located and arrested the other man, the suspect, in the 2200 Block of 1st Avenue, less than 50 yards away from where the victim was located.
Neither the victim nor the suspect were cooperative with officers about the incident. Officers located a cell phone and a knife with blood on it in the parking lot the suspect was found in. Both items were placed into evidence.
From witness interviews, officers were able to determine the following: The two men got into a physical fight (possibly over drugs) at 2nd/Blanchard. During the fight, the suspect pulled a knife and stabbed the victim. After he was stabbed, the victim followed the suspect until the police arrived.
The victim was treated at the scene by Seattle Fire and then transported to Harborview Medical Center for further treatment of his non-life-threatening injury. The suspect was also treated for an injured ankle at the hospital, and as soon as he was treated was booked into the King County Jail for Investigation of Assault.
