Detectives searching for robbery suspect

Detectives were attempting to arrest a robbery suspect when it is believed he saw them and ran back into the apartment building. After a few hours, a search warrant was obtained and SWAT officers were able to search the residence.  The suspect was not there. Detectives will continue to search for this suspect.

Today, just before 6:00 pm,   Robbery Unit detectives were attempting to arrest  a known robbery suspect. Near 29th Avenue South and South Norman Street,  detectives saw the suspect walk outside of an apartment complex.  Detectives believe the suspect saw them and ran back inside his unit. The detectives called for additional units to respond.  Numerous patrol officers as well as negotiators responded to the scene.  SWAT also responded because of the potential barricaded situation.

Negotiators attempted to establish contact with the person believed to be inside.  SWAT officers set up containment around the residence while patrol officers blocked off the surrounding streets.  After several hours detectives obtained a search warrant and SWAT officers entered the building searching for the 25-year-old suspect.  Unfortunately, the suspect was not inside.  Detectives will continue to follow up on additional leads as to the suspect’s whereabouts.
