A man was robbed at gunpoint in the Georgetown neighborhood this morning. Just shortly before 3:00 a.m., the victim was stopped in his SUV eastbound on S. Bailey St at 13 Av S. Suddenly a man ran up to the victim’s car from another vehicle which was stopped directly behind the victim’s car.
The man knocked on the driver’s window and the victim rolled down the window believing the subject needed assistance. The suspect immediately pointed a handgun with a ‘large barrel’ in the victim’s face and demanded his money and cell phone.
The victim told the suspect that he didn’t have a cell phone although it was sitting on his console. The victim stated that he gave the suspect $950 dollars in cash. The suspect then ordered the victim out of his car at which point the victim hit the accelerator and fled. He drove directly to the South Precinct.
Officers then responded to the scene and conducted an area check for the suspects without success.
