Officers arrested a shoe-less, mud-caked man on Beacon Hill Tuesday after he robbed a marijuana deliveryman, fled from police, and fell out of a tree.
*Around 12:30 pm today, the victim—a medical marijuana cardholder—met up with two suspects in the parking lot of a Safeway on Martin Luther King Jr. Way S. and S. Othello, to sell them a half-pound of marijuana.
During the meetup, one of the suspects pulled a gun on the victim and took the marijuana. The suspects then hopped in a purple Plymouth sedan and sped off.
The victim drove after the suspects, following them to a dead-end street near Beacon Avenue S. and S. Cloverdale, where the suspects bailed out their car and took off running into a greenbelt.
Officers fanned out through the greenbelt and searched for the suspects, and caught one of them after he fell out of a tree. When officers arrested the suspect, they found he’d lost both of his shoes while running from police and was covered in mud. Officers also recovered the stolen marijuana near the suspects’ car.
The incident led to a brief lockdown at Van Asselt Elementary School.
Police booked the first suspect into the King County Jail and are still looking for the second suspect.
*We’ve updated details of the robbery after receiving more information/clarification from detectives.
