A 49-year-old man was arrested last night when he threatened employees with a knife after they confronted him for shoplifting last night. Officers found and arrested the man a few blocks away.
The suspect entered the Abercrombie & Fitch store near 4th and Pine last night around 7:30 pm. Management later told officers that they had seen him before, and believed that he may have shoplifted from their store, so they kept an eye on him. Employees stated that they watched him take cologne from a display and put it into his gym bag. As the suspect was attempting to walk out of the store, employees confronted him, asking him if he intended to pay for the item in his bag. The man then brandished a knife at the employees. The staff backed off and called 911. The suspect left the store and officers located and detained him a few blocks away. The witnesses positively identified the suspect, and he was arrested. He was later booked into the King County Jail for Investigation of Robbery.
