Update 4/2: Proving once again that you’ll always find something in the last place you look, detectives learned the suspect was already in jail for a Department of Corrections violation. An SPD crime analyst recognized the man in the video and gave detectives a heads-up to check the jail. The man has since been re-booked for investigation of burglary.
Supermarket Sweep may be long gone from the airwaves, but its grocery store-plundering spirit lives on in the heart of one Seattle burglar.
Around 3:40 am on Sunday, police got a call about a break-in at the Grocery Outlet on 4th Avenue S and arrived to find the store’s front windows shattered.
Officers recovered surveillance footage taken inside the store, which shows the suspect breaking the store’s front window with a cinderblock and letting himself inside. The suspect then went on a shopping spree, filling a cart with beer, wine, candy and clothing before fleeing the store.
If you recognize the suspect in the video, please give detectives a call at (206) 684-5730
