Call them what you want. Just don’t call them ours.
The SPD UAV program ended on February 7th. There are no plans to reinstate it.
While the vehicles haven’t been returned to the vendor – a proposition more complex than expected – we’re still working with DHS to determine their final disposition.
Drones are again in the news thanks to recent City Council legislation which we strongly supported governing the use of surveillance technology.
Just to be clear, with a nod to the 140 character crowd: We support council’s legislation on surveillance. We’re done with drones & will continue our focus on public safety and community building.
