Early Morning Disturbance Downtown-Updated Information

West Precinct officers were busy this morning with a fight between two women early this morning at 3rd and James.

For reasons yet to be determined, a woman approached another woman sitting in the bus shelter at around 5:45 this morning and began attacking her with a crutch.  The victim then produced her own knife and began defending herself with it, stabbing the suspect several times in the hands.  The stab wounds are not considered to be life-threatening.   Both women were treated at the scene by Seattle Fire and transported to Harborview Medical Center for further treatment.  Upon release from the hospital, the suspect (woman with the crutch) will be booked into jail for assault.  Officers are still investigating this incident and there will be more information later.

The suspect, a 45-year-old woman, used an aluminum crutch to bash the victim in the head and face.  The assault lasted several minutes and the victim tried to get away.  The suspect continued to assault the victim until the crutch broke apart.  The victim had a knife with her and she used it to defend herself, stabbing the suspect in both calves and hands.  Both women were uncooperative with officers during the investigation.  Once she is released from the hospital, the suspect will be booked into jail.
