Belltown Burglary Early this Morning, Suspect Arrested

Seattle Police arrested a burglar as he walked out of a building at 3rd Avenue and Cedar early this morning.

West Precinct officers responded to a report of a burglary in progress at the New Horizons Ministries in the 2700 Block of 3rd Avenue at 2:30 this morning.  A witness called 911 reporting that they heard breaking glass and then saw a man wearing a white t-shirt and carrying a backpack climb through a broken window into the building.

Officers arrived and contained the building.  The suspect walked out of the building through the alley door where he was met by an officer.  The suspect was taken into custody.  He had a white t-shirt wrapped around his hand where he had cut himself climbing through the window and was carrying a black backpack.  The suspect, a 23-year-old man, was later booked into the King County Jail for Investigation of Burglary.
