Officer-Involved Shooting Following Report of Man With Knife In Magnolia (UPDATED)

UPDATE @ 2:55 pm:

At 11:43 AM, officers received several 911 calls about a man in his 20s armed with a knife 36th Ave W and W Smith.

Officers arrived on-scene and called for backup—including Crisis Intervention Team officers—and contacted the man on the street.

When the armed man advanced toward officers, one of the officers opened fire, striking the man in the torso.

Officers immediately began performing first aid on the man and called for medics.

Medics transported the man—who was alert and conscious at the scene—to Harborview.

Per department policy, both officers will be put on paid administrative leave while detectives investigate the shooting.

One man was wounded by gunfire in an officer-involved shooting in Magnolia Saturday afternoon.

The investigation is still unfolding, but it appears that at 11:43 AM, officers responded to a report of a man with a knife in the street near 36th Ave W and W Smith Street.

After contacting the man on the street, at least one of the officers opened fire, striking the man.
