A skateboarder was seriously injured early this morning after a collision with a small car.
At approximately 1:20 a.m. officers responded to a collision involving a skateboarder and a Honda motor vehicle at 33rd Avenue South and South Graham Street. Upon arriving on scene, officers found the skateboarder on the ground being attended to by fire department medics.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the skateboarder was traveling north on 33rd Avenue South at speed and entered the traffic lane of the driver of the Honda, a man in his 40’s, and another driver (a witness), who were both eastbound on South Graham Street. The Honda driver had no time to react to avoid the collision.
Officers detected no signs of alcohol impairment in any of the involved parties.
The skateboarder, a male in his 20’s, was transported to Harborview Medical Center with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
This remains an active and on-going investigation.
