Officers responded to a report of shots fired and people running early this morning in the 1500 Block of 17th Avenue South.
When officers arrived at 3:20 am, they found several shell casings in the street. Two parked cars had been struck by bullets, but no witnesses or possible victims came forward to speak with officers. One person was contacted nearby. Officers discovered he was armed, but he had a valid concealed weapons permit and his firearm was a different caliber from the casings found at the location. The individual was released and officers collected the evidence and processed the scene.
