A man is in jail after he got into an argument with another man over a traffic/parking dispute on Capitol Hill early this morning.
At around 2:20 this morning, East Precinct officers responded to what was initially reported as an armed robbery at 14th Avenue and East Marion Street. A vehicle description was broadcast, and officers located the suspect vehicle at James Street and I-5. The car was stopped and the suspect was taken into custody. The suspect told officers there was a gun inside the car and gave officers permission to search the car. A loaded .45 caliber handgun was recovered.
During the investigation it was revealed that the suspect and the victim had been in a verbal altercation over a traffic or parking dispute. The victim was on his cell phone and tried to ignore the suspect. According to the victim, the suspect attempted to grab the cell phone out of the victim’s hand. When that was not successful, the suspect went to his car and pulled up next to the victim, pointing a handgun at him. The victim told the suspect he was on the phone with 911. The suspect then left the area and was stopped by police later. The suspect, 43, was arrested and booked into the King County Jail.
