An early morning fight between two groups led to shots being fired. This morning just shortly after 2:00 a.m., a conflict arose between two groups inside Club Volume, 172 S. Washington St. After closing, both groups (males & females in each) were heading for their cars in the parking lot at 2 Av S. / S. Main St.
A fist fight ensued, during which items of clothing and jewelry were torn off and strewn around the lot. An Asian male suspect retrieved a handgun from a vehicle, pointed it at members of the opposing group, then fired many shots in the air; the suspect then jumped into the back seat of the vehicle, which fled eastbound on S. Main St. The suspect vehicle was a black sedan with dark tinted windows and shiny rims, possibly a Honda Civic or Nissan Altima.
An officer heard the shots from a few blocks away and responded immediately. His in-car camera captured the suspect vehicle as it left the lot, but he was unable to see the license plate.
SFD responded and treated the injured parties and interviewed the many agitated members of the group left at the scene. Numerous evidence items were located, including twelve casings and a wallet with a California ID belonging to an Asian male – either the shooter himself, or a member of his group.
The investigation continues.
