A man was arrested last night after he showed up at a house in the Brighton neighborhood with a gun and reportedly threatened people inside.
At 7:45 last night, officers responded to a report of a man with a gun standing in front of a house in the 3900 Block of South Warsaw Street. The call indicated that the man was threatening people inside the residence.
Officers arrived quickly and saw the man holding a gun in front of the house. He was quickly detained by officers. The three victims inside the house all stated that the man drove up to the residence in his truck, got out, walked up into the yard and then shoved and punched one of the men in the yard. After the physical confrontation, the suspect allegedly pull the handgun from his waist and pointed it all of the victims, screaming about his stolen gun. The victims all told officers that they feared for their safety.
Officers spoke with the 58-year-old suspect. He told them that he had been told that one of the men at the house had taken his gun (reported to Seattle Police a few days ago) and that he was making a “citizen’s arrest.” The man does have a valid CCW permit.
The man was placed under arrest and booked into the King County Jail for Investigation of Assault. The gun and permit were placed into evidence, and detectives will follow up on this incident.
