Woman Assaults Two Children & an Adult at the Waterfront

A woman was booked into jail tonight after assaulting two children and a father at Ivar’s Seafood restaurant on the waterfront this evening.

At approximately 7:05 p.m. officers responded to the 1000 block of Alaskan Way for the report of an attempted child abduction.  Further investigation revealed that the suspect, a 30-year-old woman, was in the outside eating area of the restaurant.  For unknown reasons, the suspect shoved a 13-year-old boy and then shoved the boy’s father when he confronted the woman about her behavior.  Shortly thereafter, the suspect grabbed a young boy (estimated to be 4 or 5 years old) and held him in a bear hug.  When confronted by the boy’s mother, the suspect refused to release the child.  The boy’s father then intervened and rescued the boy from the hold of the suspect.  The suspect then ran out of the restaurant and southbound on the sidewalk.  Shortly thereafter she was taken into custody by WSP troopers.

The troopers turned the suspect over to Seattle Police officers, who interviewed the suspect and booked her into the King County Jail for Assault.

The younger boy (4 to 5 year old) and his parents had boarded a ferry and left the area before Seattle Police were able to interview them.
