Officers marshmellowed one man’s buzz near Hempfest Saturday, citing him with a hefty fine selling weeded-up Rice Krispies Treats on the street.
Around 5:30 PM, bike patrol officers were rolling around the streets outside Hempfest—making sure street vendors had all the proper permits—when they spotted a man sitting in a chair, selling Rice Krispies Treats for $3 near Elliot Avenue and Bay Street.
When officers asked the man if the treats were laced with marijuana, he told them they contained “a little. Not too much, but a little.” And, of course, the man didn’t have any licenses for his roadside snack shop.
Officers wrote the man a $513 ticket for unlicensed vending and seized his stash—94 Rice Krispy squares, which apparently smelled like pot—and destroyed them.
