SPD Homicide Detectives track down violent murderer. On 10/4/13, just shortly after 4:00 a.m., a passerby called Seattle Police and reported a woman’s body on the Burke Gilman Trail in the 2400 Block of North Northlake Way. Officers arrived and found a deceased woman in her twenties with what appeared to be a single gunshot wound to the forehead.
On 11/26/13, Homicide Detectives, SWAT and CSI located and arrested a 32-year-old man at his Renton apartment. The suspect was later booked into King County Jail for the aforementioned murder and Violation of the Uniform Control Substance act.
This incident was solved in less than 60-days largely due to the diligent efforts of the Lead Homicide Detectives assigned on the case. It was the combined efforts of SPD Homicide, CSI, TSU (Technical Support Unit), and the SWAT Unit, combing over the evidence and working in concert with members of the community which helped to identify and capture the suspect responsible for this tragic murder.
Homicide Commander Mike Kebba said, “I take pride in the fact that our detectives are working hard every day, bringing their expertise and focus to bear, to solve challenging cases like this one and making our community safer in the process. A violent crime like this one, happening alongside the Burke Gilman Trail late at night, strikes really close to home for a lot of people, particularly the victim’s family.”
