Officers are searching for a man who attacked a young woman last night in South Seattle. On 11/27/13, just shortly before 11:00 p.m., a juvenile female exited the southbound #7 bus in the 4200 block of S.Dawson St. She walked north on 42 Av. S. and then east on S. Dawson St.
As she was walking, she observed an unknown man standing on the north side of S. Dawson St. near 42 Av. S. As she walked east on the south side of S. Dawson St., she heard the sound of someone running behind her.
The suspect grabbed the victim from behind, covering her mouth with one hand and grabbing her groin area with the other. The suspect then threw her down to the ground onto her back. He straddled the victim and covered her mouth with one hand. He then proceeded to grope her. The victim was able to bite the suspect’s hand, causing him to pull it away.
The victim fought with the suspect as she screamed loudly. The suspect got off of the victim and ran west on S. Dawson St. to 42 Av. S. The victim was able to run to a nearby residence.
A witness observed the suspect run south on 42 Av. S. to Rainier Av. S. and then north on Rainier Av. S. A K-9 conducted a track that lead to the 5200 block of Rainier Av. S.
Surveillance video showed the suspect ran to a vehicle parked on Rainier Av. S. and fled the area in that vehicle. The suspect was wearing something similar to a ski mask with cut outs for the eyes and nose. The video surveillance is not available for release at this time.
The suspect is described as a black male, 5’11, 200 pds, short hair, wearing a dark blue jacket, blue jeans, and white shoes.
