A man was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after being struck by a car north of the Aurora Avenue Bridge tonight.
At approximately 5:59 p.m. officers responded to a vehicle/pedestrian collision in the 4400 block of Aurora Avenue North. Preliminary investigation indicates that a male pedestrian in his 40’s was crossing Aurora Avenue North from west to east when he was struck by a man driving northbound in his Honda 4-door sedan. The area in question is not a legal crossing area for pedestrians.
Fire department medics responded to the scene and transported the pedestrian to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Honda, a man in his 40’s, is currently being interviewed by officers. He was not injured in the collision.
Northbound Aurora Avenue is shut down leading onto the bridge and traffic is being diverted. The road is expected to be shut down until approximately 9:30 p.m. while officers and detectives conduct their on-scene investigation.
Traffic Collision Investigation Squad detectives responded to the scene and continue to actively investigate.
