A man in his 50’s was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after being extricated from an overturned pickup truck on Capitol Hill.
At approximately 5:03 p.m. officers responded to the area of 14th Avenue East and East John Street for the report of a one-vehicle collision. Preliminary investigation indicates that a male driver in his 50’s was heading westbound in the 1300 block of East John Street in his 1989 Ford pickup truck. For reasons yet to be determined, the driver lost control of his vehicle, struck the curb and overturned. The driver was trapped inside the truck after it came to rest and had to be extricated from the vehicle. There were no passengers in the truck, and no other vehicles or persons were involved in the collision.
Fire department medics responded to the scene and transported the driver to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
Traffic Collision Investigation Squad detectives responded to the scene and continue to actively investigate.
