Officers continue to investigate a shots fired call in the Rainier Valley. On February 3rd at approximately 4:30 p.m. officers responded to reports of shots fired and a man on the ground in the 4000 block of Rainier Avenue South. Officers arrived on scene and located a spent shell casing and a man who claimed to have been shot. The man displayed signs of being under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, and was uncooperative and hostile toward officers. He was evaluated by fire department medics, who could not locate any gunshot wounds. He was subsequently transported to an area hospital for a mental health evaluation.
The suspect(s) who fired the shot remain at large.
This remains an active and on-going investigation.
