A 19-year-old man was arrested last night in South Seattle after officers recovered a handgun from his car following shots fired.
Last night, just before 11:30 pm, South Precinct officers were in the area of Rainier Avenue South and South Bayview Street when they heard approximately four shots fired nearby. The officers saw a car leaving the area at a high rate of speed and stopped the car. There were two people, a 19-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman in the car. The driver of the car, the man, signed a consent to search form allowing officers to search the car. A Glock semi-automatic handgun was located behind the back seat. Upon finding the gun, officers secured the car and sent it to the processing room pending a search warrant. The male was arrested and later admitted to firing the shots into the air. Fortunately, there were no injuries. He was later booked into the King County Jail for the felony gun charge. The woman was released from the precinct. Detectives will continue to follow up on this incident.
