Two-Vehicle Head On Fatality Collision in South Seattle

One man sustained mortal injuries and another was rushed to the hospital after a head on collision in South Seattle this morning.

At approximately 2:48 a.m. officers responded to a two-vehicle collision in the 5300 block of 4th Avenue South. Preliminary investigation indicates that a white 1998 Ford Ranger pickup truck was traveling northbound on 4th Avenue South. At the same time a burgundy 1997 Toyota Camry 4-door sedan was traveling southbound of 4th Avenue South. In the 5300 block the two vehicles collided head on. The events leading up to the collision are unknown at this time and remain under active investigation. Both involved male drivers were the sole occupants of their vehicles.

Fire department medics responded to the scene. The driver of the Toyota sedan, an adult male believed to be in his 20’s, was pronounced dead at the scene. The adult male driver of the Ford truck was transported to Harborview Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Traffic Collision Investigation Squad detectives are enroute to the scene to assume control of the active and on-going investigation.
