Robber Steals Woman’s Phone, Shoves Her Down Embankment

Seattle police are searching for a man who pushed a woman down a steep embankment after stealing her phone early Wednesday morning.

Around 1 AM, two witnesses heard a woman screaming for help under the Alaskan Way Viaduct near the 2100 block of ElliottAvenue.

One of the witnesses hopped a fence and found a woman lying on the ground 20 to 30 feet below the viaduct.

When  officers arrived at the scene, the woman told police she was walking with the suspect—who is an acquaintance—along Elliott Avenue when he grabbed her cell phone and shoved her down a 20-30 foot embankment. The suspect then shouted to the woman “I’ll call an ambulance for you” and ran off.

Medics found the woman had broken both of her ankles in the fall and transported her to Harborview Medical Center for treatment.
