Please join the Seattle Police Officers Guild (SPOG), the Seattle Police Pipes and Drums, the Seattle Police Foundation and Westlake Center today, Wednesday, April 2nd from 2pm-6pm for a fundraiser benefiting the victims of the Oso area mudslide as well as the first responders who have been working since the tragedy.
This afternoon, members of SPOG and the Seattle Police Pipes and Drums will be outside Westlake Center collecting funds to donate to “The Soup Ladies”, a 501c3 organization which has been feeding the first responders at the slide area and to the Snohomish County chapter of the American Red Cross. The organizers of today’s event hope to show their support of the both the victims and first responders, and raise money to support the effort.
“The men and women of the Seattle Police Officers Guild received an outpouring of support from the public during the WTO riots in 1999 and after the tragic murder of Officer Timothy Brenton a decade later. We, as first responders, know what long hours in a trying environment look and feel like, and we want to do our part to support those who are so deeply affected by the Oso mudslide,” said SPOG President Ron Smith.
