Driver of vehicle possibly suffered medical episode prior to crashing into telephone pole

A man died yesterday following a single vehicle collision in North Seattle. On April 16, 2014 at approximately 2:30 p.m., a silver 2004 Honda Odyssey was travelling south on 8 Av Nw approaching Nw 65th St. For unknown reasons, the vehicle jumped the west curb, drove over the raised, planted median and travelled south in the northbound lane. The vehicle ultimately struck a telephone pole, disabling the vehicle and causing moderate front end damage.

The first arriving SPD officers on scene performed CPR on the unresponsive 62 year-old male driver (sole occupant) of the Honda; SFD took over lifesaving efforts when they arrived. The male was transported to NW Hospital via Medics and was pronounced deceased very shortly after arriving at the hospital. It is believed, but not yet been verified that the male suffered a medical episode prior to the collision.

The investigation continues.
