A 26-year-old man was taken to Harborview Medical Center Wednesday after scaling a downtown building so he could pray and “be closer to God” only to fall from his perch.
Around 6:30 a.m. officers were summoned to 5 Ave and Pike Street when a man high on a ledge above a storefront awning began calling for help.
The man told officers he had fallen about thirty feet to the ledge and was unable to move. Firefighters rescued the man and transported him to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
According to the injured man, he had taken methamphetamines, pain killers and another unidentified drug before climbing the building and praying. Thanks to the firefighters, the man will live to pray another day.
