Detectives on Tuesday released photos of suspects in two separate crimes that happened earlier this month — a downtown robbery near 2nd Avenue and Pine Street, and an unrelated attempted robbery on a Metro bus.
The downtown robbery happened around 1:20 p.m. on June 14. Several witnesses heard glass break and saw a man lean into the broken window of a car at 2nd Ave and Pine Street. He stole several items and started to walk away. When witnesses approached to confront him, he brandished a handgun and said, “what are you going to do bro?” One of the witnesses snapped a cellphone picture of him as he fled. If you recognize or know this suspect please call detective T. Healy at (206) 684-5537
In a separate incident, someone tried to rob a Metro bus passenger about 6:20 in the morning on June 7th. The victim got off the bus at 64th Avenue South and South Prentice Street. The would-be robber followed and made small talk before stepping in front of the victim and demanding he “come out with everything.” He pushed the victim and tried to punch him, but missed. He also unsuccessfully tried to grab his cellphone. Officers located and chased after the suspect, but he got away. If you recognize or know this man please call detective S. Cobane of the Robbery unit at (206) 684-5535.
