Would-be Burglar arrested

A homeowner chased away a burglar who attemped to pry open a window in the victim’s home. This morning at approximately 8:30 a.m., the victim was at his home in the 1500 block of E. Olin Place packing up his laptop computer and preparing to leave for the day when he heard a noise coming from a window behind him. The victim turned around and saw an unknown man attempting to pry the window open.

The victim waved his hands above his head toward the suspect to alert him to his presence. The suspect saw the victim and ran from the window. The suspect vaulted over a metal fence surrounding the property and ran southbound on 15th AVE E.

Officers quickly arrived at the scene and spoke with the complainant. While conducting their search, officers noticed a man matching the suspect’s description running southbound on 15th AVE E in the middle of the street.

The suspect boarded a King County Metro Bus. Officers stopped the bus and escorted the man off the bus.  The complainant responded to the scene where he positively identified the suspect as the man who attempted to break into his home.

The 24-year-old man was booked into King County Jail for Investigation of Burglary.
