Officers are investigating after five people were shot last night following a fight in the University District.
Witnesses said a group of individuals standing in front of a bar located in the 5200 block University Way NE. were arguing when one of them punched another in the face. The individual who was punched produced a handgun and began firing. Officers believe that another individual used a second handgun and began firing back at the first shooter. In the process, more than 20 rounds were exchanged and five people were injured.
Following the shooting, the suspect fled the scene northbound on foot. A canine unit responded and tracked the suspect to Ravenna Park where the trail was ultimately lost.
Of the five victims, three of them were transported to Harborview Medical Center (HMC) with non-life threatening injuries. A fourth victim was transported by a friend to HMC and a fifth was treated by medics and released at the scene.
Witnesses say the suspect is a black male, 25-30 years-old, 5 foot 10 inches tall; wearing a black beanie, prescription eyeglasses, grey pea coat, and black pants.
