Officers arrested a 25-year-old man near 3rd and Pike about noon on Thursday for illegal possession of a handgun.
A Seattle Police Officer and Department of Corrections Officer spotted the suspect, who is under DOC supervision, in the 1500 block of 3rd Avenue. The officers searched his backpack and discovered a stolen semi-automatic handgun, as well as gift card in the name of another person, and a laptop and new cellphone.
He was booked into King County Jail on weapons charges and for using a controlled substance.
