Armed Robbery Leads to Arrest on Freeway

Officers arrested two people in connection with an armed robbery in South Seattle Saturday morning.

The victim was walking in the 4400 block of South Othello St. when she was approached by the suspect.  The 29-year-old suspect pulled out a sliver handgun and demanded the victim’s purse.  The victim fought with the suspect as he ripped the purse from her grasp. The suspect ran to a waiting car while the victim screamed for help.

Witnesses described the suspect’s Chevy Suburban to officers who were able to find it entering I-5 minutes later. Officers stopped the escaping SUV with the help of Washington State Patrol troopers.

Officers took the suspect and his getaway driver into custody, impounded the SUV and are writing a search warrant to examine it’s contents. The suspects are in King County Jail awaiting robbery charges.
