Police Arrest Christmas Day Bank Burglar

Detectives suspected an inside job when a burglar made off with a big chunk of cash on Christmas after entering a bank through an unlocked door, putting tape over a vault room camera and prying open a compartment containing the safe’s combination.

They were right.

Police arrested an employee at the bank when he arrived to work on Monday. A lot of investigative work went into the arrest. Latent print technicians dusted for fingerprints at the bank while officers took photographs, collected evidence and reviewed surveillance video.

A significant amount of the stolen cash has been recovered as a result of the arrest. The suspect, a 35-year-old Federal Way man, was booked into King County Jail in investigation of burglary.
