Man Wounded in Early-Morning Belltown Shooting

Detectives are piecing together what led to the shooting of a 21-year-old man in Belltown early Monday.

Witnesses told officers they saw three people arguing shortly before 2 AM and heard a couple of gunshots. The shooting victim was able to flag down a cab and flee the area. Officers arriving at the scene just found a trail of blood that stopped in the middle of the street.

Moments later, police spotted the victim’s cab driving erratically through downtown and stopped the driver. Medics rushed the victim to Harborview Medical Center where he is being treated for two gunshot wounds.

Witnesses described the shooting suspect as a black male, five feet eight inches tall, weighing approximately 190 pounds. Homicide detectives are investigating and ask anyone with information to call the tip line at (206)233-5000.
