A probable shooting was averted early this morning following bar closing in the 2200 Block of 1st Avenue. At 2:00 am, a number of officers were in the area monitoring the crowd when they noticed a large disturbance on the street. People began running in different directions, and one person informed officers that a person in the large crowd had a gun. One of the officers saw a man on the ground with a gun in his hand. The man attempted to hide the gun in his waistband when officers contacted him. While that was happening, the man’s brother was observed in the crowd, and he too had an exposed handgun stuck in his waistband. Both men were arrested without incident.
One of the men, in his 20’s, was investigated and released from the precinct, while his brother, also in his 20’s, was booked into the King County Jail for felony gun charges and warrants.
