Police arrested a 32-year-old man after he made homophobic statements then chased down and punched the victim Saturday evening.
Officers contacted the victim at 4 Ave South and South Washington Street just before 8 PM after he called 911 to report the incident. The victim stated he was walking home when an unknown man attempted to tackle and punch him. The victim began to run away and when he looked back to see if he was being followed, the suspect yelled a homophobic slur and punched the man in the face.
Officers were searching the area when they located the suspect. The victim verified officers had contacted his assailant, and the suspect was arrested.
Police later booked the man into King Count Jail on investigation of malicious harassment.
