Police Arrest University District Armed Bank Robber

Police arrested a 38-year-old man Thursday after he walked into a University District bank, pointed a gun at a teller and ordered her to call 911.

It’s not yet clear why the man ordered the teller to call police. He entered the bank, located on 4100 block of University Way Northeast, shortly after 9 AM. Police arrived just as the suspect was exiting the bank. He heeded officers’ commands and was taken into custody.

Police confiscated the weapon, which turned out to be a realistic looking air-soft gun.

Robbery detectives are interviewing the man now and will later book him into King County Jail on investigation of robbery.
