Detectives arrested a man Thursday night following a months-long investigation into prostitution and child rape.
Police were first alerted in December, when a victim began telling them about the actions of the 36-year-old suspect. A Vice and High Risk Victims detective was immediately assigned the case and began conducting interviews and collecting evidence. The suspect had forced the 15-year-old victim into prostitution and also raped the young girl.
Through continued investigation a detective was able to establish a line of communication with the suspect. The detective, while using an alias, convinced the suspect he would be meeting the victim at a Central District business. Instead, officers were standing by and apprehended the suspect when he arrived at the location.
Detectives booked the man into King County Jail on investigation rape of a child and promoting the commercial sexual abuse of minor, in addition to $250,000 in warrants.
